Olympus Cookies Plexouda 350gr

Fluffy or crunchy, with grated dough or soft, our crackers are the ideal accompaniment for coffee. With rich aromas of orange, butter, vanilla or cocoa and with a fine couverture, they will become the perfect companion for coffee and any of your favourite drinks!

It is an excellent and almost inseparable match of Greek coffee, but also a treat that can be found in every household. It is interesting that the cookies are found in the 7th century AD in Persia, and were the result of experiments and tests of the oven temperature. Trade and population exchanges brought them to Europe and from there to the rest of the world. The cookies have versions all over the world, since each country has its own cookie to dive into the coffee, to eat as a dessert or as an invigorating snack.

In Greece, cookies have their honour at Easter, while during baking, the whole house smells of musk. The Easter cookies are baked a few days before Easter, usually on Maundy Thursday, they smell like butter, they are crunchy and melt in your mouth. Most of their recipes are based on eggs and flour, while the most important ingredient is what makes them musk: orange, lemon, honey, cinnamon, almond, vanilla, tahini, wine, beer, ouzo and anise, chocolate or cocoa. We also find them fasting without eggs and milk but also with oil. Scholars tastes as much as the housewife's imagination.

Special mention is made of the most traditional, the autumn mustache cookies, made with must that one finds when the harvest begins at the end of summer. A Greek coffee with a cookie on the saucer, is for some a classic treat to start the day.
