Dieticians say: Here’s when You should Eat Mayonnaise!

Do you know what they say about mayonnaise? “Mayonnaise: one of the sauces which serve the French in place of a state religion.” Oh well, despite the theory that the sauce comes from this European country, it turns out that mayonnaise is popular all over the world. Today you can find mayo in almost any market (even online) and in all kinds of forms. Of course, you can make it at home, too, but why bother at all when you have the opportunity to have ready for you!? So, no matter how tasty mayonnaise is, we have to admit that there are lots of people who say it’s bad. Well, they are probably against it only because it’s known for its calories and fat. However, today many dieticians actually emphasize on its benefits in certain situations rather than something else. The nutritionist Elena Solomatina points out why it is important to be careful with mayo meals when drinking alcohol, for example. According to the specialist it would be better to combine the drink with meat or with a mayonnaise salad. That’s because it’s a well-known fact that high-fat foods can neutralize the bad effects from the alcohol. Hey, go check this article out to get some inspiration for easy and very delicious salads with mayo. “The more mayonnaise, the better.”, explains Solomatina. In case you’re wondering why she puts it like this, well, we might have a guess. It’s probably because the sauce contains an acid, which is thought to make one get drunk faster. As a matter of fact, this specific type of acid is also found in the so called Sauerkraut. This is the reason why people who feel dopey after a tough night often rely on Sauerkraut juice. OK, enough with the health facts! How about we talk a bit more about mayonnaise’s history? mayo You already know that its origin is most likely to be France. There are rumors that back in 18th century a French cook created the sauce…by accident. According to this story the former Duke de Richelieu won a battle back in 1756 and had to celebrate the victory. The Duke’s chef had to prepare his favorite sauce made of eggs and cream. However, the cook couldn’t find cream and thus replaced it with oil, so he ended up being the first one to make mayonnaise ever. We cannot be 100% sure whether this is the exact and true history of the famous sauce, but it wouldn’t make a difference today. What’s most important is that we all love mayonnaise!
