The Secret Behind the Tasty Rice – 8 Steps to Perfection

At first sight cooking rice seems like a piece of cake. However, the final result isn’t as satisfying as you expect it to be, right? The truth is that rice is a specific product that requires skills. Some chefs even say that they would know if you’re a good cook by the way you prepare rice. Probably you’ve had someone to complain about your pulpy or uncooked rice at least once in your life. If so, follow these 8 simple steps and prove them wrong!
  1. Rinse out the rice a couple of times and then soak it in water for 30 minutes or more. “I know this pretty well!” you may be thinking. OK, but did you know that, if you strain it after that, you will eliminate all the healthy components?
  2. If you don’t want to stick your rice, make sure to wash it very well until it starts omitting clear water only. This guarantees that the starch, which is the reason for the sticking, is long gone. washing the rice
  3. The easiest way to prepare this cereal grain is through absorption. Just boil the rice in water until the liquid absorbs it all. Of course, the different types of rice require diverse quantities of water when using this method.
  4. Here’s something very important – DO NOT put water and rice in the pot at the same time! You should wait for the H2O to boil and then add the rice.
  5. A common thing is to have rice in your plate that’s stuck together. Sounds familiar? If that’s the case, you can put some kind of fat into the water next time you’re cooking. Here you can choose from butter, olive oil, lemon juice, whatever.
  6. It would be great, if you add salt to the water as it boils. This way you won’t need to salt the rice after it’s ready. We would say that 1 teaspoon of salt to 150g of rice is good for a start.
  7. After the water boils, lower the heat. Remember: the rice should be simmering, because if you cook it at high temperatures this will definitely ruin your meal. What’s more, it’s important to cook with tightly closed lid of the pot! simmering rice
  8. Each rice type has its specific characteristics. You know that already! Some are ready for 5 minutes, others – for 60; some require more water, others – less. That’s why you should always read and follow the instructions on the package very carefully.
