What comes up in your mind when you think of Greece? We bet it’s olives, olive oil, seafood and Ouzo. Although you’re right, this Mediterranean country has a lot more to surprise with! Today the cooks often use olive oil, vegetables, lots of herbs, grains, bread, wine, fish and all kinds of meat. Did we forget something? Oh, of course, Feta, zucchini, eggplant and yogurt! So, let’s go into some of these, shall we?
  1. What would Greece be without olives and their oil?! In the past, people even used to call it “the Golden liquid” as it served as a beauty source, as medicine and as an irreplaceable culinary component.
Vegetables in Greece
  1. Although Greeks love meat, they always stake on vegetables when it comes to garnish. Thanks to their favorable climate they have lots of fruits and vegetables and it would be a shame not to use them!
  2. Herbs and Greece? Isn’t this the same? This nation is famous for its use of herbs in literally any form. Oregano, peppermint, garlic, onion, fennel, basil – it all smells like a Greek dish.

  1. Typically for the Mediterranean countries, Greece wouldn’t survive without seafood. That’s definitely a good reason to visit the country as it offers super fresh and tasty sea delicacies.
