“As long as there’s pasta and Chinese food in the world, I’m okay.” Well, we would definitely stick to just pasta here. But it’s always a matter of choice!
Speaking of pasta, we cannot help but talk about this all-time-favorite food on the very
World Pasta Day! It’s a well-known fact that it is now actually the most popular food on Earth.
And we are not saying this just like that! It’s actually proven by the
British organization Oxfam that concludes pasta is actually much more desired than rice, pizza or even meat. Indeed, it is! Although many people cannot tell the difference between farfalle, fettuccine and fusilli, they would absolutely agree on being pasta fans. What’s even more surprising is the fact that it’s very much loved not only on the Balkans, but also in countries like Brazil, Guatemala and the Philippines.
We bet you cannot guess which other countries get into the
top 10 list! There’s some data that Venezuela is actually the second largest consumer of pasta. After Italy, of course! And, by the way, Tunis, Chili and Peru are also pretenders.
So, here’s something more you might be interested to learn about pasta:
- This type of food was first mentioned in about 1154th However, it started gaining popularity only in the 18th century, when it became a reasonable source of food for the majority of people.
- Getting along with the modern trends, we cannot miss to talk about healthy pasta versions as well! Nowadays chefs are experimenting by introducing a healthier option to their clients. It’s whole-grain pasta we are talking about. It’s thought to have fewer calories and more proteins, which makes it an ideal food for athletes and fitness lovers.
- We are not digging deep into the topic here, but just for your information – there are more than 600 types of pasta. Of course, spaghetti is the most popular of them all. And it’s not for no reason!
And to sum this up appropriately, here’s a
super easy dinner recipe you could try without any prep at all!
Tasty shrimp pasta
Products:
½ package of
pasta
1tbsp EVOO
1kg shrimps, peeled
2 cups broccoli and spinach, frozen
1/3 cup white wine
1x lemon
1tbsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
¼ cup basil pesto
½ cup cheese, grated
First of all, boil the pasta by following the instructions on the package.
While it’s cooking, heat the olive oil
at medium temperature. Add the shrimps and fry for about 2 minutes. Then flip and cook for 2 more minutes.
After that, add the veggies and the wine into the cooking pot. Grate some lemon zest directly over the products. Sprinkle some salt and pepper and continue cooking for 1-2 minutes or until the products are ready.
Strain the pasta and add it to the shrimps and the vegetables. Season with the basil pesto and the grated cheese and
