2 Easy Greek Recipes with Allspice you can Do at Home

  1. Baked potatoes ‘a la Greece’
Products: 1kg potatoes 5tbsp olive oil 3 bay leaves Allspice grain (10x) 1 lemon Salt baked potatoes Cut the potatoes into slices and sprinkle them with some salt. Add the olive oil, the bay leaves, the allspice and the some lemon juice and then mix everything. Pour water until it covers the veggies and bake in preheated oven (160C°) for 1 hour.
  1. Greek stifado
Products: 1kg beef 150g bacon 2-3x onions Olive oil Black pepper Salt 1 bay leaf Allspice (4x grains) Parsley 2-3 garlic cloves 1-2 tomatoes 100ml white wine greek stifado Bone the meat and flatten it with a kitchen hammer. Season it with black pepper, salt and olive oil. Then roll it up and tie it with a string. Cut the tomatoes into small pieces, slice the onions and the bacon and fry in 2-3 tbsp of olive oil. When the vegetables get softer, add the meat and fry it evenly. Right after you “sear” the meat pour 1 cup of hot water, add allspice, black pepper, salt, bay leaf and white wine. Stew under a lid at low heat for 40 min. Then take the lid off and cook for 30 more minutes. When the meat is ready cut it into thin slices. Take the bay leaf and the allspice grains away and strain the rest of the sauce. Then pour it over the meat and serve with a garnish by your choice. Is your stomach already rumbling?
